Wine Review Short #17 – Cigar and Wine Pairing Interview with Rocky Patel

I attended a special event to showcase Rocky Patel Premium Cigars at Churchill Cigar and Wine Lounge in San Diego. The Rocky Patel cigars are well known for their richness, smoothness, complexity and balance (it is as though I am describing a wine!!).

This boutique brand has carved itself a sizable niche in an industry dominated by big players. Rocky himself is a friendly guy and he goes out of his way to explain the various nuances of producing his cigars from his tireless travels to Nicaragua, Honduras and Costa Rica where he selects the seeds for growing the tobacco, to the personal supervision of the curing and fermentation and production of his hand rolled cigars.

Here Rocky shares with me his insight about pairing wine with Cigars.

Walid and Rocky great interview and educational as well.

It is a treat to have good cigars described and related as

an excellent red wine. I would add Syrah/Shiraz to your litany

of wines to match, however, I’m biased to this rich wine.

Keep up the good work Gentlemen and Slainte !!!

Thanks John. I very much agree that Syrah/Shiraz would be a great match for a big cigar. Great to hear from you. Have a Merry Xmas!

    Walid,
Great clip! I LOVE RP’s cigars. They take up a lot of real estate in my humidors.

After watching the vid., I need to try an RP w/ an Amarone.

    Cheers!

In all honesty: I love my Rocky P’s. For me it is the Rocky Patel Sun Grown Junior. The taste and the draw is great and they are not that expensive. Really good to enjoy myself.
